Believe it or not, the following two images represent the front and back covers of the same magazine. In addition to the imminent decline of civilization due to steadily warming land mass surfaces, melting icebergs and rising sea levels, National Geographic Magazine would also like its readers to know that the 2008 Chevy Tahoe Hybrid, with “the best fuel economy in its class” is the 2008 Green Car of the Year!

This is the future of hybrids, for certain. One might not argue that there is a need for full-sized SUVs – the U.S. Geological Survey, for example, with all their scientific equipment, could use one of these eco friendl(ier) vehicles. But is National Geographic really targeting government and industry with this back cover of the Special Edition on climate change?

I assume we’re really talking Baby steps here.
