2008 – Ongoing
The X-Mass Tree Games celebrate new possibilities for the artificial evergreen Christmas tree in the landscape and explore the potential for organized athletic competition as a medium of dissemination for these trees.
2008 X-Mas Tree Toss
The first X-Mas Tree Game, the X-mas Tree Toss, was a collaboration with Tom Russotti and the Institute for Aesthletics. It took place on Long Island in Easthampton on Sunday, September 6, 2008. We enjoyed blue skies and splendid crashing ocean waves following on the tail of Hurricane Hannah. Many Christmas trees were tossed, fewer planted themselves successfully in the windswept beach, one even made it a record 85 feet, and all were appreciative of their new life as aesthletic paraphernalia.
